What is semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a prescription medication that mimics the hormone GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1). It helps regulate blood sugar, slows gastric emptying, and reduces appetite. Initially developed for type 2 diabetes, certain doses and formulations of semaglutide are also used for chronic weight management under medical supervision.

Who should not take it: People with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2, and those with certain other medical conditions. Always consult a healthcare professional before starting.

How it works
